Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Manchester United’s academy, as per reports.
In 2020, United signed Alvaro Carreras from Real’s academy and helped the Spaniard develop into a well-rounded and physically imposing left-back. However, Los Blancos eventually managed to bring back their academy gem to Santiago Bernabeu.
It has been previously reported that the Champions League giants are looking to snap up immensely talented forward JJ Gabriel from United. Now, a report in Spain claims they are interested in one more Carrington jewel.
According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid are “closely monitoring” United goalkeeper Darlington Osuchukwu.
Considered one of the most promising goalkeepers in world football, 15-year-old has already earned a call-up to the Spanish Under-17 team.
His massive frame, given the age group, has grabbed the attention of many. Osuchukwu is reportedly called “the new Courtois”.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Athletic Club are also keen on signing Osuchukwu.
United signed him from Gazte Berriak when he was 13 years of age. It is believed his past stint in the Basque Country has made him an attractive option for Athletic, who plan to offer the Spain-born shot-stopper a more clear pathway to senior football.
It is thought that the United starlet would be “delighted” to return to Spain, especially if Real or Barcelona make an approach.
However, the Red Devils have no desire to lose one of their “best assets for the future.”
The Thibaut Courtois comparison is interesting, as United also have the supposed heir to his throne for Belgium, Senne Lammens, on their books.
On the back of his promising start at Old Trafford, the 23-year-old Belgian is expected to make his international debut this month. Courtois is out of action due to an injury.
