Daryl Dike has thanked Albion fans for their support as he departs after four and a half injury-hit years at The Hawthorns. The player said in a social media post that he did not feel alone during repeated setbacks.

The United States striker left at the end of his contract on June 30 and is a free agent this summer. He turned 26 last month as he seeks a fresh start.

Signed from Orlando City in January 2022 for seven million pounds, Dike managed 66 appearances, with only 25 starts, amid at least five major injuries, including two ruptured Achilles tendons.

One of the lasting images was his tearful cart exit at Ipswich’s Portman Road, as supporters hoped he would come good. He praised fans, staff and team-mates for helping him through the toughest moments, and described the club as family.

He scored 11 goals for Albion and reflected that he gave everything with no regrets, taking pride in memories, experience and friendships. He views West Bromwich Albion as always special to him and he wished the club and its fans success.
