Date set for Valverde’s Athletic farewell | OneFootball

Ernesto Valverde’s final match as Athletic coach is currently scheduled for Saturday 23 May at 21:00 at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid.

According to El Correo, supporters paid tribute at San Mamés on Sunday, with further farewells expected against Celta Vigo this weekend, with the kick-off subject to change.

Before that, Athletic visit Espanyol in midweek. For the final unified round, La Liga says kick-offs can move once earlier results are known, and all games are set for Saturday at 21:00 except, for now, Villarreal vs Atlético.

The league also indicated that, if possible, different unified slots could be used for teams with different targets.

Athletic are pushing for Europe, namely the Conference League. Iñaki Williams said on Sunday that it is the most accessible aim for a side beaten by Valencia, and they are one point off with three to play.

Upcoming fixtures: Espanyol on Wednesday at 19:00, Celta Vigo on Sunday at 19:00, then Real Madrid the following Saturday at 21:00.
