David Storch has given a lot of credit to his son, Michael, for the takeover of Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have been under new ownership for a little under three months now, and the feeling around the club since has been unrecognisable in the best possible way.

The Owls endured a torrid time in the final years of the Dejphon Chansiri reign, which accelerated in the last few months, with late wage payments and a refusal to sell the club before he placed them in administration in October.

Even then, the administrative period was taxing, as Wednesday had to navigate a difficult Championship campaign on the field while the uncertainty surrounding their first preferred bidder, James Bord, grew until he pulled out of negotiations after two months of exclusivity.

That proved to be a blessing in disguise at Hillsborough, though, as it opened the door for Arise Capital Partners, a consortium formed of David Storch, his son Michael and Tom Costin, to buy the club, and they've been hard at work since the purchase was announced ahead of the final day last season to begin the rebuild.

Imposed point deductions and transfer restrictions were avoided, David Bruce was appointed as the new CEO and has since joined the Board of Directors, and Simon Wilson has become the new sporting director, a role that Chansiri didn't utilise in his decade at the club, to craft a strategy that has seen nine new arrivals already in the transfer window.

David Storch has been the vocal leader of the Arise consortium since they purchased the club in early May, and over the past two-and-a-half months, has really gotten integrated into the history of Sheffield Wednesday and what the club means to the community.

The Storches, along with Bruce and Wilson, have joined Henrik Pedersen's side in their pre-season camp in Budapest, Hungary, further emphasising their dedication to what they're building.

But, in an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield during the pre-season camp, David Storch stated that he wouldn't be here if not for his son, who is living his dream as owner of Sheffield Wednesday.

"Without Michael, I wouldn't be here," he said. "This has been Michael's dream.

"He recognised that English football was a very interesting business to begin with, or kind of sports activity and business to begin with.

"He was always very energised by opportunities in this league, but when Sheffield Wednesday became available, he understood the full gravity of the club and what it meant to the community and what we could potentially do with it, and how we could help.

"Without Michael, we wouldn't be here today. He's the driving force from the ownership group, making things happen and working closely with the club to do all the right things."

It's hard to find such a dedicated group of owners. Understandably, Sheffield Wednesday fans will have been a little sceptical of anyone who came in, after their experiences with Dejphon Chansiri, but thus far, the Arise group have hit all the right notes.

Michael Storch may have been, and still is, the driving force in the group, according to his father, but there's no doubt that David and co have caught the bug having been surrounded by the club and the fans these past months.

David Storch stated that he was getting butterflies ahead of their first game back at Hillsborough in just over two weeks against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Cup, when all the hard work over the summer begins to translate on the field.

There have been much-needed improvements off the field in terms of upgrading the training ground's facilities alongside the additions on it. Thus far, things are going very well, and there's a lot of anticipation over that first game on August 8.

Time will tell whether things will go right on the field as quickly as they have off it, but so far, the Arise consortium have been everything that Sheffield Wednesday fans will have wanted from their new owners, and those in the stands at Hillsborough will definitely appreciate that.
