Francesco Acerbi is pushing to finally make his return from injury in tomorrow’s Serie A derby between AC Milan and Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that today should be the “day of truth” as far as the 36-year-old’s fitness.
It has been right around two and a half months since Francesco Acerbi was on the pitch for Inter.
The Italian international picked up a thigh strain during a Serie A clash with Hellas Verona in November. That had been Inter’s first match back from the international break.
Initially, the hope was that Acerbi could make a swift return from that injury.
There were even reports that the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender might only miss a couple matches.
However, that has proven to be wide of the mark.
Acerbi has had to be very patient with his recovery.
However, the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender’s return to the pitch now looks to be very close at hand.

Francesco Acerbi will hardly be able to be in the starting eleven against Milan in the derby tomorrow.
However, the Italian international should be in the squad.
Today’s training session will be decisive in determining how much of a role Acerbi is able to play.
