A deal has been agreed that should have nothing but positive repercussions for Liverpool and Florian Wirtz. A massive win.
Florian Wirtz arrived at Liverpool a year ago as potentially their next superstar. His reputation in Germany was outstanding, after all, and he was voted, by the players, as the best in the Bundesliga before heading to Anfield.
However, season no.1 wasn’t particularly a success. Wirtz wasn’t bad, certainly, but he didn’t reach the heights Liverpool thought he would.
The German is still young, though, signing him was a long-term project not a short-term one. There’s plenty of time for Wirtz to realise his outrageous potential - he just needs the right environment.
Liverpool believe they’ve given him that environment by sacking Arne Slot and hiring Andoni Iraola. Everyone will hope that the Spaniard shows more ability to get the potential out of players across the squad.
But in a massive win for Liverpool, Wirtz won’t just be working with Iraola. Fabrizio Romano claims that Jurgen Klopp has agreed a deal to take over as the head coach for the German National Team.

"BREAKING: Jürgen Klopp as new Germany head coach, here we go!” he writes.
"Klopp has accepted to take over; long term contract details, project and RB Group exit still under discussion, but he will be the new head coach.
"RB considered Glasner as replacement but he signs at [Nottingham Forest]. Klopp is back."
And with that, Wirtz will now work alongside the best-possible coach for him. Someone who Liverpool consider the best in the world in developing players to their full potential.
No other coach in the game has shown such an ability for it and this is a massive win for the potential of Wirtz. Honestly, we wonder if it might just encourage Liverpool to invest further in the German national team, given their reported interest in Said El Mala - surely a future call-up under Klopp.
But for now, the victory is with Wirtz. Liverpool were hoping that him working under Iraola would give him a boost. Now he’s working under Iraola and Klopp.
A dream scenario and one that should get the very best out of one of the world’s most talented players.
