Matthieu Udol dictated the contest with two big chances created and three key passes as Lens beat Auxerre 1-0. His control of the left channel and steadying of the tempo proved pivotal in a tight Ligue 1 game.
Early on he pushed high from the left, supplying accurate service and joining attacks inside the box to stretch Auxerre's back five. His crossing pinned the visitors deep and set the platform for sustained pressure.
From there he kept finding pockets to slide runners in, carving openings that forced hurried clearances and repeated defensive resets. His forward bursts ensured Lens played in the right areas for long spells.
He finished with two big chances created, three key passes and two accurate crosses from four, plus two interceptions and two shots, underlining a complete, front foot display that connected defence to attack throughout.
Because Lens' structure freed their left side repeatedly, Udol received the ball early and high, drove at the channel and kept Auxerre unstable. His timing and delivery maintained territorial control and ensured the key phases belonged to the hosts.
Lens rise from second to first in the table. They visit Marseille next. Auxerre host Paris Saint-Germain next.
