Decisive figure sparks fightback for Internacional at Botafogo

Johan Carbonero equalised in the 59th minute with a fierce strike from outside the box, setting Internacional on course for a 2-2 draw at Botafogo.

In the second minute of first half stoppage time, Carbonero slipped Alerrandro in for a central effort the goalkeeper saved. The winger had already shown he could burst beyond the last line and pick the right pass under pressure.

After the restart he then rifled into the roof of the net (59.) on a fast break, running off the shoulder before taking Alerrandro's pass in stride to beat the keeper from range. That moment checked Fogão and swung the rhythm back towards Inter.

Carbonero finished with one attempt, one on target, eight successful final third passes and six recoveries, underlining how his direct running and work rate carried Colorado up the pitch and kept defenders turning.
