Barcelona continue their search for a new left-winger after being snubbed by Nico Williams for the second summer in a row.

The Blaugrana have identified Luis Diaz of Liverpool and Manchester United star Marcus Rashford as their primary alternatives.

A move for Diaz, though, is seemingly unlikely due to his price tag and Bayern Munich’s intense pursuit of the Colombian.

As such, Rashford has jumped to the top of the transfer wishlist for the La Liga champions, with the player himself keen on a move.

Deco against Rashford signing

However, according to Javi Miguel of AS, Barcelona face a significant obstacle in their bid to sign Rashford, and it happens to be none other than their sporting director, Deco.

The former Portugal midfielder is not entirely on board with the idea of signing the 27-year-old Manchester United attacker.

It was reported earlier this week that manager Hansi Flick had given the green light for Rashford’s signing.

However, it still seems like he does not generate total consensus within the Blaugrana’s sporting department, with Deco himself against the operation.

But, as things stand, it is clear that Rashford is the most financially viable for Barcelona as Manchester United would be willing to loan him out with a purchase option, while the player is willing to take a significant pay cut.

So, it remains to be seen whether Deco changes his stance. For now, though, the sporting director is focused on finalising some exits to generate revenue and free up salary space.
