FC Barcelona and Polish veteran Robert Lewandowski have decided to part ways this summer. After four years at the Catalan club, the former Bayern Munich striker will now be heading off to the United States of America.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Lewandowski is now set to join MLS club Chicago Fire and various credible sources claim that an agreement has been reached between both parties. Moreover, the report claims that the MLS club has been chasing his signature since quite some time.

To be specific, they have been pursuing this signing since last December and it seems that now was the perfect time to make things happen considering the fact that Lewndowski’s Barcelona contract has now run out. Moreover, with both the club and the striker not looking to renew the deal, a new chapter in his life now awaits him.

Even Fabrizio Romano has now attached his iconic ‘Here we go’ catchphrase to the news, and has confirmed the move. The player will be heading over to the United States of America, and after having played for some of the biggest European clubs in Germany and Spain, he will be showcasing his talents in a whole new continent.

Previously, it was reported that Lewandowski had reached an agreement with the MLS side over a two-year contract. Now, it seems clear enough that he will be the main man for the team competing against the likes of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, and that will certainly be an interesting contest to look out for. Moreover, the veteran striker seems to have no plans to retire just yet, and even wants to represent Poland at the next European Championship.

As for Barcelona, this particular departure has created a void of sorts that needs to be filled as soon as possible. The Catalan giants are on the hunt for a new successor to Lewandowski at the club, and progress has been slower than expected when it comes to this particular operation.

At the moment, Argentinean star Julian Alvarez seems to be the club’s primary target for the summer, but that particular operation is starting to look tricky. Atletico Madrid, the club that Alvarez is currently contracted to, continues to be a real headache for Barça to negotiate with at the moment and that is exactly why this transfer will not be an easy one to find a solution to.
