Under the watchful eye of John Eustace, Derby finished eighth in the second-tier standings, and can take plenty of positives heading into next year's campaign.

Patrick Agyemang was their star man, although the forward's debut season in the EFL was cut short due to an injury, which was a frustrating blow for the Rams at a crucial stage of the 2025/26 season.

Eustace and the Derby County supporters will be hoping that the American international can pick up where he left off when he does return to action.

The 2026/27 campaign will be Derby's third successive season in the Championship, having won promotion from League One back in 2024.

It's set to be an interesting summer transfer window ahead for the Rams, as Eustace will be looking to add to his squad ahead of the season opener in August, and having let Callum Elder depart on a free transfer, they're eyeing up a new left wing-back.

It seems as though Eustace is keen to strengthen his options out wide this summer, with the Daily Record reporting that the Rams are eyeing a move for Dundee United wing-back Will Ferry.

Ferry was a regular for the Scottish side this season, having made 41 appearances in all competitions. He's chipped in with four goals and nine assists for Dundee United, as they finished top of the relegation group in the Scottish top flight.

His strong form for them didn't go unnoticed either, as Ferry was rewarded with a call-up to the Republic of Ireland national team, where he made his international debut against Grenada.

Ferry is contracted with Dundee United until the summer of 2027, and the Scottish outfit have to weigh up their next move on the midfielder's future, having recently turned down an offer from the Vancouver Whitecaps of the MLS.

Derby won't have it all their own way in their rumoured pursuit of Ferry though, with Blackburn Rovers and Charlton Athletic both holding a long-term interest in the 25-year-old.

The Daily Record claim that both of those clubs are rivalling Derby for Ferry's signature this summer, whilst also reporting that Dundee United are 'likely' to move him on due to his expiring contract next summer.

It remains to be seen as to what finances are involved in any potential agreement for the versatile ex-Southampton academy wide player, but he'll be keen to have his future resolved at the earliest of opportunities.

Elder's exit means that both at left-back and the wing-back position, depending on what way Eustace wants to set up next season, needs adding to, and Ferry has improved a ton since his last stint in the EFL, which came in League One with Cheltenham Town during the 2023-24 season.
