Whilst France may have got their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign underway with a win over Ukraine on Friday night (2-0), it was a victory that came at a cost, especially for Paris Saint-Germain.

Désiré Doué started the encounter, held in Wroclaw, Poland, however, he was forced off with a calf injury at half-time. He was videoed leaving the stadium with a limp. He will now undergo tests to ascertain the severity of the injury, however, his international break is seemingly over. And beyond?

PSG will be awaiting the results of those tests, as well as those that Ousmane Dembélé will undergo, too. Dembélé replaced Doué at half-time but didn’t even last until the 80th minute before pulling up with a hamstring injury. He, too, left with a limp, head down, on Friday night. Didier Deschamps has said that Dembélé’s international camp is almost certainly over.

PSG, who warned France’s medical staff that Dembélé was not in a fit state to play, are “furious“, according to L’Équipe. It is a double blow for Les Parisiens, and it comes just a fortnight before Le Classique.
