Liverpool have entered the race for Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres, according to Correio da Manha,
Darwin Nunez is closing in on a move to Napoli, and Gyokeres could replace him.
While Liverpool will likely be in the market for a striker, the latest transfer rumours may be agent-driven as the Swede is desperate to join Arsenal this summer.
He has reportedly called Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas to inform him that he doesn’t intend to return and play for the club next season.
Gyokeres is angry with Sporting as he believes he had a gentleman’s agreement to leave for a fee worth €70 million.
But Sporting have been adamant that he can only secure a move elsewhere if their €80m valuation is met.
Arsenal have made an offer worth €65m, but they have no plans on meeting the Primeira Liga club’s high valuation.
The Gunners are in the market for a new striker, having struggled this season due to injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.
If a move doesn’t materialise for Gyokeres, they may turn their attention to RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
However, the finances involved in a deal for the Slovenian are also expected to be high.
