Jonathan Asp Jensen has made a strong showing in Switzerland this season – but his future does not seem to lie with FC Bayern
As reported by kicker, the German record champions are planning to sell the 20-year-old Dane in the summer. It has been confirmed by both FC Bayern and players that Asp Jensen has no prospects in Vincent Kompany’s professional squad
However, his loan to Grasshoppers Zurich was a sporting success
Since his move to the Swiss Super League, Asp Jensen has been a regular for Grasshoppers, scoring eight goals in 32 competitive matches to date
This not only makes the Dane one of the most important players in his team, but he is currently the traditional club’s second-highest scorer
Just last weekend, the 20-year-old set up a goal in the derby against FC Zurich

Despite this development, the decision at Säbener Straße appears to have already been made. According to the report, FC Bayern are not planning to develop the talent further in their own professional squad. Instead, a permanent sale is to be sought
However, it remains to be seen whether the Munich club would want to secure a buy-back option or other bonus rights in the event of a potential transfer
The main reason for this is the fierce competition in Bayern’s central midfield, with Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Tom Bischof and returnee Noel Aseko already filling the central spots
Under these circumstances, regular playing time for Asp Jensen would hardly be realistic
At the same time, the case of Asp Jensen once again demonstrates Munich’s current strategy in dealing with young talent. FC Bayern specifically loans out numerous young players to other clubs in order to give them playing practice at a high level. However, not all of these players subsequently make the leap into the first team
In addition to Asp Jensen, important decisions are also pending for other loan players, including Maurice Krattenmacher, Lovro Zvonarek, Armindo Sieb and Jonah Kusi-Asare
Asp Jensen moved to Munich from Danish club FC Midtjylland in 2022. His contract with FC Bayern actually runs until 2028
The Dane has only made one brief appearance for the professionals in the Bundesliga so far, coming on as a substitute under Thomas Tuchel in the 2-0 win over Wolfsburg in 2024.
