The German Football Association are arranging two key meetings in the United States in their pursuit of Jürgen Klopp as national team coach, Bild claims.

On Sunday, Fabrizio Romano said on X that a decision had been made for Klopp to take the job. However, obstacles are still reported to remain despite strong indications the 59-year-old will succeed Julian Nagelsmann.

After Klopp expressed his interest in the role, the DFB scheduled talks in the United States due to his World Cup punditry for MagentaTV, the report says. Bernd Neuendorf and Hans-Joachim Watzke are due to travel to New York to negotiate, with a swift agreement anticipated.

A subsequent meeting involving Red Bull chief Oliver Mintzlaff and Klopp is viewed as more complex, according to the same report. Klopp told MagentaTV last night there was “nothing new” to disclose.

There have not yet been talks between Red Bull and the DFB, but Klopp is said to have a verbal understanding that would allow him to leave his current post as Red Bull Head of Global Soccer, the report adds. A release deal between the parties is still required, and a transfer fee for a head coach has been floated as a first for the DFB.

As an alternative, the report suggests Klopp could remain linked to Red Bull as a brand ambassador while managing Germany.
