The 41-year-old replaced Enzo Maresca in January, and signed a six and a half year contract at Stamford Bridge, although it’s understood there’s a break clause in the deal.

Rosenior made a good start to his tenure, but the honeymoon period is very much over, and it appears the wheels have started to fall off.

Gus Poyet on problem Liam Rosenior has at Chelsea

The Blues are on a poor run and have lost their last four games in a row in all competitions, and currently sit sixth in the league with seven games remaining

It’s not just the defeats but the manner of them, especially the second leg against PSG and the loss to Everton, and the Blues have failed to score in their last three games.

Pressure has been mounting on Rosenior, and former Blue Poyet thinks the Englishman has a problem following this run of form.

“When you try to deny those things publicly [about taking advice from the medical staff] and try to explain the situations and cover all these things, the only one that loses is the manager,” he told Football London.

“[If you are] winning, you get away with it. If you lose four in a row at Chelsea, it doesn’t matter who you are; you can ask [Jose] Mourinho, [Carlo] Ancelotti, [Antonio] Conte, [Luiz Felipe] Scolari, all of the managers that have some problems and got sacked.

You can’t say no to Chelsea

It was evident Rosenior wasn’t ready for the job at this stage of his career, but Poyet claims you can’t say no when Chelsea come calling.

“I think that Liam had to take the job because it was unexpected – you must take it, you can’t say no,” he added.

“People might say, ‘maybe he should have waited a few more years’, no, when Chelsea come to you, you have to take it.

“Then how do you deal with that? Now, losing four games in a row, it’s a problem. Difficult situation for Liam.”
