DiMaria leads offense as USA tops Puerto Rico to qualify for U-17 Women’s World Cup

MIAMI – The Final Round of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers continued with its final matchday as the United States earned a 4-nil win against Puerto Rico in Group B on Sunday at the Costa Rica Federation Field #1 in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
In an encounter that pitted the two top teams in the group, the USA (3-0-0) triumphed to hold on to first place and qualify to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026.
Maddie DiMaria placed the U.S. in front by converting a penalty kick chance in the 21’.
DiMaria assisted Mia Corona for the second U.S. goal in the 36’. Corona received the ball inside the box in a spinning motion to set up her left-footed strike.
Mak Whitham made it a three-goal lead for the USA in the 50’, as DiMaria collected a second assist.
Taylor Morrell added her name to the scorers list in the 55’. Mia Corona provided the assist for her first of the day.
Avellina Saunders had two saves to collect the clean sheet. The U.S. defense finished the tournament with zero goals conceded.
Puerto Rico (2-0-1) may still qualify to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup if it finishes as the best runner-up across the three groups.
