Stole Dimitrievski approaches another Betis v Valencia with a different mood. The same fixture last May sparked controversy when Carlos Corberán kept Giorgi Mamardashvili in goal, leaving the North Macedonian short of 10 official games and a contractual bonus.

The former Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper has started the last three league matches, and Valencia have not lost with him against Elche CF, Getafe and Espanyol, taking seven of the last nine points. He could do little about the goals conceded, one against Elche and two against Espanyol, while providing assured handling.

Since arriving on a free in summer 2024, he has played 15 official games, seven in La Liga and eight in the Copa, conceding 16 and keeping six clean sheets. The latest came on 18 January at the Coliseum, where he made three saves, two inside the area.

His Valencia stint began in November 2024 in the Copa, where he met expectations until the main blot, Barcelona scoring five at Mestalla in the quarter-finals.

In La Liga, while Mamardashvili recovered, he took a 1-0 defeat at Valladolid, draws at Espanyol 1-1 and at home to Alavés 2-2, then a 1-2 loss to Real Madrid in Corberán’s first game. Afterwards the coach restored the Georgian.

“Valencia did not want to let me go, every day they asked for more compensation. I had clubs from the top four in Türkiye and Arabia,” he told Lazarov on YouTube.

“My desire is to play. I want to play for Valencia.”
