Ansu Fati (22) made an electric start to life at AS Monaco. The Barcelona loanee was carefully managed over the summer and didn’t make his debut with Les Monégasques until September. But when he did play, he was impactful. He netted on his first UEFA Champions League appearance for the club and would then net five goals in his first three Ligue 1 encounters.
In mid-October, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro spoke about the Spaniard’s loan move becoming permanent.
“It isn’t a topic for us,” began Scuro in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. “The topic is just continuing to provide Fati the conditions to allow him to keep having minutes and being an important and consistent player for AS Monaco. The business side is not important now. At the right time, we will make the decision. Monaco are protected in this situation by the agreement that we have with the player and Barca. The target is performance and keeping him on the pitch,” he added.
Monaco have a buy option, but Fati’s last goal came at the start of October and he hasn’t featured at all in December due to a hamstring injury. Romain Molina now reports that Monaco no longer want Fati.
