Does Kylian Mbappé want to play on the left for France? | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé’s (27) positioning has been the source of much debate in recent years. During his final season at Paris Saint-Germain and since his arrival at Real Madrid, he has played in the No.9 role at club level. 

It is a similar story at international level. Especially since the international retirement of France’s all-time top-scorer Olivier Giroud post-Euro 2024, it is Mbappé who has led the line. However, his positioning is not without controversy, and it has become the topic in France ahead of their FIFA World Cup opener against Senegal on Tuesday.

Ousmane Dembélé has excelled through the middle for PSG, but his prospects of playing in that position for France are dashed due to the presence of captain Mbappé. Speaking on RMC Sport show After Foot, consultant Walid Acherchour revealed that Mbappé wants to play on the left of the attack, however, it is Didier Deschamps who wants to continue playing the Real Madrid forward centrally.
