City winger Jeremy Doku featured for the full 90 minutes as Belgium fought out a goalless draw at home to North Macedonia in their latest 2026 European World Cup Group J qualifying clash.
The Belgians largely dominated proceedings at the Planet Group Arena in Ghent but found the visitors well drilled and disciplined in defence.
Doku in tandem with former City legend Kevin De Bruyne carried the main attacking threat for the hosts, coming close with several second half efforts.
However, the visitors were able to withstand the Belgian pressure with North Macedonia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski in inspired form to claim a share of the spoils.
The result leaves North Macedonia top of Group J with 12 points from six games, with Belgium a point behind having played one game less.
Belgium are next in action on Monday when they travel to play Wales in Cardiff.
Elsewhere, City defender Manuel Akanji - who is spending the 2025/26 season on loan with Italian side Internazionale - featured for the full 90 minutes to help Switzerland claim a vital 2-0 away win at Sweden in their latest Group B encounter.
Granit Xhaka’s 65th minute penalty gave the visitors the crucial advantage in what was a hard-fought Stockholm clash.
And the Swiss then sealed victory deep into stoppage time thanks to a 94th minute effort from Johan Manzambi.
The result leaves Switzerland top of Group B with nine points from three games ahead of their next game away to Slovenia on Monday. Kosovo are second with four points from three matches.
