Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich extended their lead over Bayer Leverkusen, who play on Saturday, to nine points with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena on Friday night.
Bayern dominated the game from start to finish, with Werder failing to register a single shot on target.
At the back, Werder were without two of their regular starters, Niklas Stark and Marco Friedl, who were both suspended. Despite this, they managed to limit Bayern to very few chances in the first half.
The closest the home side came in the first half was when Jamal Musiala was denied by Michael Zetterer's 18th-minute save after being played in behind by Michael Olise. Kingsley Coman and Harry Kane also threatened, but it remained goalless at half-time.
After hitting the crossbar with a powerful shot just after the break, Harry Kane finally broke the deadlock in the 57th minute. Anthony Jung was adjudged to have handled the ball and Kane stepped up to convert the penalty in ruthless fashion.
The England captain should have doubled his tally a few minutes later, but couldn't find the target from a promising position.
Dayot Upamecano went close in the 67th minute, but his header from a corner was saved by Michael Zetterer.
Finally, two second-half substitutes combined to put the game beyond doubt in the 82nd minute when Leroy Sané met Konrad Laimer's cross at the back post.
Konrad Laimer had a glorious chance to make it 3-0 in stoppage time, but he failed to beat Zetterer with a close-range chip.
Moments later, the Werder goalkeeper was called into action again to keep out a header from Harry Kane.
But the action didn't stop there, as Bayern were awarded another penalty deep into stoppage time when Anthony Jung brought down Jamal Musiala.
Once again, Harry Kane stepped up to convert and ensure Bayern a comfortable 3-0 victory.
