Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been recalled to an enlarged England squad, with Thomas Tuchel naming 35 players for the final gathering before the summer and the World Cup.

According to Leeds Live, Tuchel has expanded the group to assess players who have not been called up before. England will face friendlies against Marcelo Bielsa's Uruguay on March 27 and Ao Tanaka's Japan on March 31.

Tuchel said the camp would effectively run in two phases to widen competition for seats on the plane to the United States. From Friday and Saturday, 10 or 11 rested players will join, and a mixed group will then take on Japan. He plans to rotate across both matches, with some players not staying for the full camp.

Calvert-Lewin will hope to make his case for a World Cup place. The 29-year-old has 11 caps, the last in 2021 during Euro 2020, when he came off the bench in the quarter-final win over Ukraine.

Despite one goal in his past nine club games, his earlier-season form has counted in his favour. Brighton's uncapped 35-year-old goalkeeper Jason Steele is a surprise pick, with an expectation he could serve as a training goalkeeper for the World Cup. Trent Alexander-Arnold misses out, while Manchester United's Harry Maguire returns.
