Dominic Solanke has undergone minor surgery in a bid to finally overcome a niggling ankle injury.

The Tottenham striker has not played since he came off the bench in last month's win over Manchester City.

Solanke returned to training last week but was still not fully pain-free and was deemed not ready to be involved against Wolves on Saturday.

With the issue, which he picked up in pre-season, proving an ongoing hindrance, the decision has been made for Solanke to undergo surgery.

“So now we decided to make a minor surgery. It's a small procedure. So that will mean he's not ready [to face Bodo/Glimt], of course.

“And of course, Leeds he's out as well. We will have more news about time frame after the international break. But I don't expect it to be long.”

On whether Spurs had wasted a month with Solanke’s recovery by not having surgery earlier, Frank added: “I think if you can look from two ways. That's the easy answer, but it's not that easy.

“If we knew we could have done the surgery a month ago, we probably would have done it.

“So for me, I'm always like I imagine, ‘oh, it is what it is, we deal from now’. No doubt that the way we dealt with this is because we thought this was the right way because I think in general, no one wants a surgery, no matter how small it is.”

Randal Kolo Muani also missed training in north London earlier in the day, but the Spurs boss was more upbeat about the Frenchman's recovery from injury.

"Randal Kolo Muani, we're on top of his dead leg, so that's good," Frank said.

Spurs captain Cristian Romero did not take part in the session either, but Frank insisted that was "just a precaution".

He has not travelled for Tuesday’s meeting with Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt, their second Champions League outing of the season.

Kota Takai and Yves Bissouma both returned to training on Monday after recent injury issues of their own, but both were left out of Spurs’ squad for the league phase of this competition.
