Donley strikes to lift Oxford United to 22nd | OneFootball

Oxford United beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium to climb from 23rd to 22nd in the Championship.

Jamie Donley settled it in the 34th minute, steering a right-footed finish into the bottom right from the centre of the box.

After the restart, Jamie Cumming saved smartly from Moussa Baradji and later gathered Ryoya Morishita's header as Blackburn pressed for a leveller. Balazs Toth kept the visitors in it with a string of first half stops before the break.

There was a brief stoppage for an Oladapo Afolayan injury in the second half, but play soon resumed and Oxford managed the late pressure with fresh legs introduced from the bench.

Oxford produced seven shots on target from 14 attempts despite having 31.4% possession. Blackburn had 68.6% of the ball but managed only two efforts on target from 10 attempts.

Next, Oxford host Charlton Athletic in the Championship. Blackburn visit Millwall.
