Felipe Longo made his first start of the season as Corinthians beat Capivariano 3-0. According to Meu Timao, Dorival Júnior assessed the 20-year-old’s display positively.
Longo had little to do, making two punches and one save. He misjudged a stoppage-time free-kick that led to a Capivariano goal, ruled out for offside against Lucas Costa after Cadu’s delivery bounced over him.
The coach said Longo was steady over 90 minutes and showed confidence. He called him technically strong, stressing development is step by step, and that any change in goal would only be by necessity.
He had not featured since 23 November 2025, a 3-0 loss to Cruzeiro in the Brasileiro, when Hugo Souza was with Brazil. This time the regular starter was rested, giving Longo his chance.
An academy graduate, Longo has seven senior outings, four wins, three defeats and nine conceded. The expectation is he returns to the bench for Sunday’s derby with Palmeiras at 20:30 in the Campeonato Paulista, round seven, at Neo Química Arena.
Corinthians have loaned Matheus Donelli to Shabab Al Ahli in the UAE until mid-2026. Dorival currently has Hugo Souza, Felipe Longo and Kauê, and João Ricardo could join from Fortaleza between March and April, pending medicals.
