Corinthians lost 3-0 to Bragantino in the Campeonato Paulista with a rotated side, as Dorival Júnior urged patience with his reserve forwards and explained his decision at right-back.
The defeat came on Thursday night at the Estádio Municipal Cícero de Souza Marques in the second round. Pedro Raul and Gui Negão started together for the first time, with Yuri Alberto on after 19 minutes of the second half. According to Meu Timao, the coach said the pair need time and more training, highlighting the movement shown with Gui Negão and Yuri Alberto after the break.
Raul played six early 2025 Paulistão games before a loan to Ceará, scoring 17 in 45 there. Gui was promoted after August’s Club World Cup and logged 24 games, five goals and two assists.
Dorival used centre-back Cacá at right-back instead of João Vitor Jacaré, saying the youngster is being prepared and Cacá had trained there. He acknowledged Cacá’s difficulties but felt he still provided positives.
Jacaré debuted on 3 February 2025 in a 1-0 win over Novorizontino and has played only twice more for the seniors, including the 3-0 victory against Ponte Preta last Sunday.
With Matheuzinho first choice, cover has also come from Félix Torres and Charles. Corinthians are close to signing 23-year-old Pedro Milán from Peñarol, already in São Paulo for a medical and expected soon on a free.
They host São Paulo at 16:00 on Sunday at the Neo Química Arena in the third round.
