Durban City FC chairman reveals club's next targets: Big surprises!
After returning to the Betway Premiership, it appears the Durban City FC chairman is keen to prepare for something special next season, ensuring his team remains competitive. The team was relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of the 2022-23 season.
During a sponsorship event in Durban, club chairman Kadodia tempered expectations for their debut top-flight campaign. "I know you're expecting bold declarations from me, but I'll be modest – our first season won't be about taking on the giants," he told reporters. "Year one is about establishing ourselves; the real challenges come in season two."
Head coach Gavin Hunt, recently appointed after a three-month hiatus following his March dismissal from SuperSport United (whose PSL status was later sold to Siwelele FC), adopted a more match-by-match philosophy when questioned about objectives. "The instruction from management is straightforward – attempt to win each upcoming game. That's it," the veteran mentor stated.
The contrasting approaches reveal a club balancing long-term planning with short-term competitiveness as they prepare for life in the premier division.
