Liverpool made the perfect start to their Premier League clash against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds, closing in on a top-five finish in the top-flight, took just six minutes to find the first goal against struggling Chelsea.

And it arrived with a flourish, as Ryan Gravenberch controlled from the edge of the area and whipped an unstoppable finish into the top corner past Filip Jörgensen.

The Dutch international is not necessarily known for his goal-scoring abilities, with his last Premier League goal coming in 2025 against Wolves.

For the Blues, any slim chances of a Champions League spot for the 2026/27 campaign appear to be slipping away after another slow start.

In addition, the Blues have conceded at least once in each of their last 14 Premier League games - their longest run without a league clean sheet since 1991.

However, Calum McFarlane's side hit back in fortuitous circumstances, when Enzo Fernandez's free-kick somehow evaded everyone and ended up in the back of Liverpool's net.
