Manchester City host Ipswich Town in their first home Premier League fixture of the 2024/25 campaign.

Goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic helped the Sky Blues to a 0-2 win at Stamford Bridge, with Manchester City now preparing to welcome Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich to the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

Saturday’s clash, which will be the first between the two teams since January 2002, could provide a home debut to summer signing Savinho, and first minutes to Ilkay Gundogan, after the 33-year-old re-signed from FC Barcelona on an initial one-year deal.

Manchester City remain without both Oscar Bobb and Rodri however, meanwhile Kalvin Phillips will be unable to play for Ipswich due to Premier League rules, after the Englishman moved to Portman Road on a season-long loan.

Liam Delap could start against his former club however, after Ipswich beat Southampton to the signature of the England striker, agreeing a £20 million deal with Manchester City officials.

In the build-up to confirmed team news from the Etihad Stadium, initial news regarding Manchester City’s team to face Ipswich Town is already emerging.

According to the information of reliable early Manchester City team news source FPLMaineRoad, Phil Foden is absent from the matchday squad against Ipswich. The reason for that absence remain unknown.

Additional reporting from X user FplToni states that Rico Lewis has retained his place within the starting line-up after a stellar performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with Erling Haaland also in the initial eleven.
