Ecuador face host nation Mexico in their Round of 32 fixture on Wednesday at the Mexico City Stadium.
Ecuador progressed from a dramatic Group E campaign that tested their resilience. They began with a narrow 1-0 loss to Ivory Coast before being held to a 0-0 draw by Curaçao.
Facing elimination, La Tri produced a stunning performance in their final group match, defeating Germany 2-1 in a result that dramatically shifted their momentum heading into the knockout rounds.
Ecuador enters this match without any injury concerns, with head coach Sebastián Beccacece expected to stick with the same lineup that secured their crucial win over Germany.
Captain Moisés Caicedo will once again lead the midfield alongside Pedro Vite, as the pair aim to control possession and dictate the tempo against Mexico.
The defensive unit, consisting of Alan Franco, Joel Ordóñez, Willian Pacho, and Piero Hincapié, is set to remain unchanged to maintain stability at the back.
In attack, Gonzalo Plata is expected to keep his place on the wing following his decisive performance in the previous match.
Additionally, Chelsea youngster Kendry Páez is fully available and offers a strong creative option off the bench, capable of unlocking Mexico’s solid defensive structure.
Possible Ecuador starting XI: Galindez; Franco, Ordonez, Pacho, Hincapie; Yeboah, Caicedo, Vite, Angulo; Plata, Valencia
The match will kick off at 2am BST on Wednesday, 1st July.
Fans in the United Kingdom can watch the Round of 32 match between Mexico and Ecuador live and free of charge on ITV1, as well as on STV in Scotland.
