Ederson, 32, joined Fenerbahçe this summer after eight seasons at Manchester City.
The Brazilian goalkeeper revealed that he had already tried to leave the previous year, but without success, which affected his performances. Speaking to ESPN Brazil, he said:
Last season, I tried to leave Manchester City, but it didn’t work out. I suffered five injuries and couldn’t reach my best level.
Ederson added that he was searching for enjoyment and a new challenge:
I spoke to the club and said I needed a change. Why stay at a big club if you’re not satisfied?
Now at Fenerbahçe, he feels reinvigorated:
A new challenge brings something fresh. The atmosphere here is incredible and I’m finding the joy of playing again.
