Edinson Cavani has left Boca after agreeing to terminate his contract, which was due to run until the end of the year. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the Uruguayan will not report for pre-season and will be paid to his last working day.

The decision was endorsed by the board after assessing his fitness and his place in Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s plans. The move closes a much-hyped chapter that began with his August 2023 arrival.

Across his spell in Argentina, he made 81 competitive appearances and scored 28 goals. Persistent injuries in recent months reduced his impact.

His last Boca outing came on 20 February, with his final goal recorded against Tigre. Prolonged inactivity led both parties to sever ties by mutual consent.

With Cavani gone, the staff will reshape the attack for the season ahead. His exit frees salary budget and a foreign slot. The club now prioritises recruiting a striker to challenge Adam Bareiro and Milton Giménez.
