A new Bayer 04 Media House documentary charts Edmond Tapsoba’s rise from Ouagadougou to Leverkusen, released to mark his new long-term contract. According to BuLi News, Fierté Burkinabè traces the 27-year-old’s story through those who have walked alongside him.

It opens in Burkina Faso’s capital, where he revisits his parents and his roots. His mother backed the dream his father once resisted, and those family values underpin the Foundation Edmond Tapsoba, launched two years ago to support vulnerable people.

He joined Salitas at 15, with coach Drissa switching him from attack to centre-back and praising his relentless work. Former international Boureima Maïga mentored him, and discipline helped him stand out.

Maïga and agent Filipe Macedo Alves then opened a path to Portugal, where early months were hard and contact home was scarce. A move to Vitória Guimarães brought a first-team breakthrough and interest across Europe, before Bayer Leverkusen acted in January in a reported €20 million deal that he wanted.

Initial nerves soon gave way to trust under Peter Bosz. Tapsoba debuted a week after signing in a 4-3 win over Borussia Dortmund, later scoring against Ferencváros with his parents in the stands. Six years on, he helped deliver the 2023/24 double, and 2025/26 is set to conclude at home to Hamburg on Saturday.
