After seven matches without conceding a single goal with Senegal, Edouard Mendy finally broke his run against DR Congo.
The Lions of Teranga came from behind to defeat DR Congo (2-3), but conceded two goals to Cédric Bakambu and Yoan Wissa. This marks the end of a remarkable streak for the Al-Ahli Saudi goalkeeper.
The Senegal international (39 caps) had not conceded a goal in an official match for the national team since the previous game against DR Congo (1-1).
He put together an impressive run of 7 clean sheets against Mauritania (0-1), Burundi (0-1, 2-0), Burkina Faso (0-1), Togo (2-0) and Sudan (0-0, 2-0).
According to "Dsports.sn", Tony Silva also managed a streak of 7 unbeaten matches between July 2001 and February 2002.
Edouard Mendy now has 39 appearances with the Lions of Teranga and remains Pape Thiaw's number one choice for the upcoming fixtures.
