Edu Gaspar plays down Flamengo talk, confirms approach while still at Nottingham Forest | OneFootball

Edu Gaspar has cooled rumours linking him to Flamengo, saying he remains tied to Nottingham Forest even though the Rio club have made contact.

"I am still working with the group and I cannot commit to anything right now," Gaspar said on Saturday seven, speaking to Lance.

"Pleasure to speak with you. Tomorrow, Saturday seven, I can talk more calmly, but I confirm there was an approach from the club," he told journalist Ângelo Furtado on Friday six.

Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, was unhappy with how José Boto handled Filipe Luís’s dismissal. He is considering removing the sporting director, a decision that could still change.

On the Forest side, owner Evangelos Marinakis is described as similarly unsure about Gaspar’s future. The Telegraph reports that the Brazilian has already been informed of his dismissal after eight months in the role.

Amid the off-field turbulence, Flamengo face Fluminense on Sunday eight in the Campeonato Carioca final at the Maracanã, with kick-off at 18:00 Brasília time.
