Eduardo Camavinga was one of Real Madrid’s standout performers in their 2-1 win over Barcelona.
The Frenchman put in a real shift in midfield, limiting the threat posed by Pedri, Barca’s most creative player. Further, the 22-year-old also enjoyed a few ventures forward from the right flank towards the end of El Clasico.
Despite a number of promising performances over the years, the ex-Rennes prodigy is yet to nail down a starting spot at Santiago Bernabeu. He has only made two La Liga starts so far this term.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are eager to sign a midfielder in January. Now, a report in Spain suggests they could make a move for their long-term target.
According to Fichajes, Camavinga is at the top of United’s list of targets, as Ineos consider making a high-profile addition in that department.
The Spanish outlet claim United are willing to make an offer of around €80 million to sign the midfielder, dubbed ‘the new Pogba’.
United tried to sign the 22-year-old from Rennes in 2021, but were beaten to his signature by Real. Now, the Premier League giants are prepared to test Los Blancos’ resolve.
The technically gifted Frenchman is known for his ball-carrying ability and passing range. Further, akin to Pogba, his long legs allow him to make timely interceptions.
Real highly rate Camavinga and his sale would only be considered if a massive offer was tabled.
Given Amorim is showing little faith in Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte, United desperately need a new midfielder to replace the ageing Casemiro.
Camavinga has both the physicality and positional awareness to replace the ex-Real Madrid veteran at Old Trafford.
Mainoo, meanwhile, could move in the opposite direction amid his struggles under Amorim.
It has been previously reported that Real are monitoring the England international’s situation at United. Further, Mainoo is thought to be open to a move to the Spanish capital.
