Egypt Coach Makes a Big Call on His Star Player After Securing World Cup Spot
Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan's decided to rest Mohamed Salah for the upcoming World cup qualifier against Guinea Bissau after sealing qualification for the 2026 tournament.
The Pharaohs booked their ticket to the 2026 World cup following comfortable 3 - 0 win over Djibouti at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
With 23 point at the top of their group, Egypt cannot be caught while Burkina Faso sit second with 18 point.
Following the team’s qualification, Hossam Hassan opted to rest Salah for Sunday’s clash at Cairo International Stadium. The Liverpool winger will remain with the national team to celebrate their achievement but won’t be involved in the final group fixture.
Salah’s rest comes as relief for Liverpool, with the 33 year old among the club’s most used players this season clocking 838 minute in 10 match.
The forward's expected to return to Merseyside fresh, with the Reds next Premier League fixture not until 19 October against Man United.
