Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has commented that Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush deserves to play in Spain at some point in his career.
Marmoush has endured stiff competition for places in attack in his first full season at the Etihad Stadium, having joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in January 2025.
The 27-year-old was brought in as an emergency attacking reinforcement midway through what Guardiola has deemed as the most challenging year he has faced in management.
However, Marmoush is not a first-choice starter at Manchester City and is believed to be open to a summer departure if regular first-team football would be on offer.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Egypt’s friendly against Spain, Pharaohs manager Hossam Hassan has declared that Marmoush would benefit from a move to La Liga at some point in his career.
“The whole world is watching him (Marmoush),” Hassan said, as quoted by journalist Ismael Mahmoud. “Since a young age, he’s continued to gain experience and develop abilities through his presence at big clubs.
“He still has a long path ahead and opportunity to become one of the world’s stars like Mohamed Salah. He has great potential, good speed, skill. Marmoush improves every year and at some point, he may play in La Liga – he deserves that.”
After a dormant first half of the season, Marmoush has impressed with a regular run in the starting XI since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations in January. However, his future is expected to be addressed by director of football Hugo Viana in the summer.
Marmoush attracted interest from Tottenham in January and was believed to be open to a conversation over his Manchester City future, having barely kicked a ball under Guardiola in the first half of the campaign.
Barcelona have identified Marmoush as a prospective signing in attack this summer as the La Liga giants hunt for a potent replacement for the outgoing Robert Lewandowski.

Manchester City consider Marmoush, who is under contract at the Etihad Stadium till June 2029, part of their plans for the future as Viana and co look to progress their remake of the first-team squad in the upcoming transfer window.
However, should the Egyptian express a firm desire to leave this summer, one would imagine Manchester City will not block an exit and sanction a sale for what club officials would deem a fair, market value fee for the attacker.
