Eintracht Braunschweig dismiss head coach Heiner Backhaus

Eintracht Braunschweig have dismissed head coach Heiner Backhaus and assistant Julius Schell with immediate effect.

The club said in a statement, through sporting director Benjamin Kessel, that the decision followed an in-depth review of recent matches and the team’s form across the second half of the season.

After monitoring performances in recent weeks and holding numerous talks with the coaches, there was no longer the conviction to continue on the current path with this staff.

The decision was not based on a single match. Backhaus and Schell were thanked for their passion and commitment, and were wished success in their future careers.

Backhaus took charge in the summer after leaving Alemannia Aachen and signed a contract running until 2027.
