The Frankfurter Rundschau reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in acquiring Hoffenheim striker Max Moerstedt. At present, the Hessen newspaper claims that Eintracht are only looking to secure the 19-year-old next summer. Given that the Bundesliga outfit finds itself in urgent need of attacking assistance, however, a winter purchase or loan cannot be ruled out.

Moerstedt excelled for Hoffenheim during summer training camp and even bagged a brace in his team’s opening round Pokal win. The current competitive situation in the TSG attack nevertheless leaves the teenage talent having difficulty accruing minutes behind the likes of Tim Lemperle and Fisnik Asllani. Moerstedt’s current Hoffenheim contract runs through 2027.

How urgently do Eintracht need a new striker?

Quite urgently. Leading goal-scorer Jonathan Burkardt remains out injured. French flop Elye Wahi is not presently being considered by SGE head coach Dino Toppmöller due insufficient training performances and is likely to be sold in January.During this weekend’s humiliating 6-0 away loss at RB Leipzig, Belgian veteran Michy Batshuayi fractured his foot and will also be sidelined indefinitely.

Batshuayi had to exit proceedings at the half against Leipzig. Former Germany U21 international Jessic Ngankam is once again fit after a long struggle with injury, but the Rundschau reports that Eintracht don’t consider him prepared to lead the line and are planning to loan the 25-year-old out again in January.

It has been reported that Eintracht have reached an agreement with Newcastle to secure Danish striker William Osula on loan for the coming calendar year, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Toppmöller has little choice but to rely on Ansgar Knauff as his starting forward until the transfer window opens.
