Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt have set out the plan for striker Hugo Ekitiké as they hope he is their next big money move.
Frankfurt are known to sell their strikers for big money, with Omar Marmoush the most recent example to join a long list of players who commanded big fees. Die Adler believes Hugo Ekitiké will be the next player to join the list.
A sale of the Frenchman is not expected to happen soon and Frankfurt believe that he has the potential to be a great striker but still has aspects of his game he needs to work on. On Ekitkié, Sporting director Markus Krösche said:
“We are very happy with Hugo’s development. He fits in really well with us and has made great progress in just one year. He already has an exceptional scoring rate. He has the potential to become an absolute top striker in Europe.
However:
“He still has to work on his determination, sometimes he is too playful. We also still have issues when defending the ball. But he is on the right track.”
The plan for the 22-year-old is that he will stay at Deutsche Bank Park until at least the summer of 2026, as his current deal at the club expires in 2029. The price tag for Ekitiké has also been set at €80m, which means he will rake in the same amount of money that his strike partner did in January.
Since the departure of Marmoush, Ekitiké has really come into his own. In the four games that Frankfurt have been without the Egyptian, Ekitiké has scored four goals to take his season tally to 12 goals and three assists in 20 games.
