The 30-year-old goalkeeper moves to Frankfurt from Werder Bremen.
Eintracht Frankfurt and SV Werder Bremen have agreed terms on an immediate transfer for Michael Zetterer. The 1.87m-tall goalkeeper has signed a contract that will tie him to the club, who will be playing Champions League football this season, through to 2029.
Born in Munich, Zetterer played his junior football with SpVgg Unterhaching before moving to Werder Bremen in January 2015 and going on to play 80 games for the north German club. He has also had loan spells with Austria Klagenfurt and PEC Zwolle.
Zetterer was the undisputed No.1 over the past two seasons at Werder Bremen, making a total of 65 appearances and keeping 18 clean sheets. The 30-year-old was one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga in the last campaign, with his consistent performances catching the eye of the German national team set-up.
“Michael Zetterer is a strong goalkeeper who is also a very good footballer,” said board member for sport Markus Krösche. “He showed in Bremen that he is much better than the average goalkeeper, and with his mindset and ambitions, he will be a perfect fit for us here in Frankfurt. It was particularly important for us to go into the new season with a strong and balanced group of goalkeepers, and Michael will be a very important part of that.”
