El Maestro sees positives as Al-Najma score two in 5-2 loss to Al-Nassr | OneFootball

Al-Najma lost 5-2 to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Roshen League on Friday, yet manager Nestor El Maestro focused on the positives. The defeat came in round 27.

He said his side showed a good standard and strong motivation against one of the division’s leading teams, and that the plan worked for long spells. According to Goal.com, he maintained that assessment despite the scoreline.

El Maestro explained that adapting became difficult after Nabil Dunga suffered an injury and left in the first half. He added that fitness levels limited their ability to sustain performance across 90 minutes. He said most goals arrive late through lapses in concentration, something they discuss often but do not view positively.

He also underlined the value of scoring twice from open play and organised moves away from home, noting Al-Nassr’s defence is extremely difficult to break.

The Englishman expressed strong admiration for the local players in his squad, calling that a personal source of motivation.

Al-Najma are 18th, second from bottom, on eight points with seven matches remaining, leaving a fierce fight to avoid relegation.
