Elche appoint Martin Anselmi after Eder Sarabia exit

Elche have appointed Martin Anselmi as head coach, handing the 40-year-old Argentine his first job in Spain.

According to L'Équipe, the Alicante club confirmed the move on Friday for next season, with an option for a second year dependent on results. It follows Eder Sarabia’s departure a few days earlier to be closer to his family.

Sarabia had been central to Elche’s successful campaign, keeping the team in La Liga before stepping away.

Anselmi arrives for what will be only his second spell in Europe after a six-month stint at Porto in 2025.

More recently, his time at Botafogo lasted under three months, contrasting with stronger work earlier in his career at Independiente del Valle in Ecuador and Cruz Azul in Mexico.
