Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams has made a “crazy statement” about his teammate Eli Junior Kroupi as transfer links to Manchester United ramp up.
Kroupi has taken the Premier League by storm since arriving from Lorient last year. He has emerged as one of the biggest surprise packages in the top flight this year, registering an impressive 10 goals in 28 appearances.
These goals have come in just 1,313 minutes of action. He scored against United both home and away, with both matches ending in draws. He also netted in Bournemouth’s win over Arsenal earlier this month to significantly dent the Gunners’ title hopes.
Kroupi is attracting interest and Bournemouth are said to be bracing for offers for the striker. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Cherries value the 19-year-old at around £50-60m.
There have been claims that he would be keen on a move to United. The Red Devils are planning on bolstering their attacking department as they inch increasingly closer to securing Champions League football. Michael Carrick and his players need just six points from their remaining five games to be mathematically guaranteed of a spot in the competition.
In addition to United, Liverpool and Arsenal have also been mentioned to be eyeing Kroupi.
As interest in the Frenchman mounts, Adams has shed light on his immense potential, noting that he has world-class potential.
Adams said of Kroupi on the Men In Blazers podcast, “Yeah, he’s an absolute different level, man.”
“For a 19-year-old kid to not be phased by any situation at all, and to go along with the quality that he has, I genuinely, I don’t say this lightly, he has the potential to be world-class.”
“I know that’s a crazy statement to make, but I wouldn’t say that about a player.”
The USMNT star added, “If you saw what this kid does in training on a daily basis, and the way that he trains, the positions that he can play, like he was a number nine, he could play number 10, he could play as a winger.”
“You put him anywhere and he just gets the game, such a high IQ level.”
Adams’ assertion will come as music to United’s ears, reinforcing their determination to firm up their interest in Kroupi with a concrete approach.
Though early in his career, he already boasts a remarkable skill set and will only get better. He and Benjamin Sesko could anchor United’s attack for the foreseeable future.
