Elliot Anderson has spoken about transfer speculation around his Nottingham Forest future while on England duty at the World Cup in the United States.
“It’s pretty easy, really. I’m just focusing on the present.” He told the BBC.
“I’m blocking it all out. I’ve got a plan and it’s to perform for England, so I’m just putting myself in the best position to cross the line and do that.”
The 23-year-old Nottingham Forest midfielder is wanted by Manchester City this summer after a strong couple of seasons at the City Ground. Forest have rejected two bids, the latest worth more than £120m comprising £106m up front and £15m in add-ons. Negotiations are ongoing and it seems likely an agreement will be reached.
It has been suggested Forest are seeking £130m for their prized asset, a figure that would set a British transfer record and surpass the £125m Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak.
Anderson impressed on his World Cup debut last week, teeing up Jude Bellingham for England’s third goal in a 4-2 win over Croatia in their opening group game.
Thomas Tuchel’s side meet Ghana on Tuesday, 23 June at the Boston Stadium, then conclude the group phase against Panama on Saturday, 27 June.
