A medical has reportedly been arranged for Elliot Anderson after an agreement between Nottingham Forest and Manchester City over his transfer, with an up-front £116m said to be in place.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the checks are scheduled for today, Friday, in New York, with the England international currently at the World Cup in the United States. The report adds there are no add-ons.

If finalised, the fee would set a new record for the FA Cup winners, eclipsing the £100m paid for Jack Grealish in 2021, and would surpass Arsenal’s £105m for Declan Rice in 2023. Some outlets have suggested the total could be closer to £130m.

Forest are understood to have rejected City’s first two offers before talks advanced. City had made the 23-year-old their leading target after two standout seasons on Trentside.

England head coach Thomas Tuchel has permitted players to complete transfers during the tournament, though he prefers deals are not wrapped up on the eve of a game. He has also indicated medicals can be carried out in the US.

Anderson started England’s first two group matches and is likely to keep his place against Panama on Saturday at the MetLife Stadium in New York and New Jersey.
