Corinthians’ 2005 title winner Élton Arábia has welcomed the arrival of Kaio César, seeing echoes of his own path in the youngster. He highlighted their links to Saudi football and the doubts both have faced over height.

"I am pleased he has joined Corinthians. You can see he has a lot of quality. I follow Arab football closely and saw he did well over there," he told ge.globo.

Kaio, 21, made his name with Al-Hilal. Élton, now 39, spent the past two decades at Al-Nassr, Al Fateh, Al-Qadsiah and Al Wehda, as well as in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

The forward is 1.68 m, taller than Élton’s 1.58 m. "That distrust over being short has always existed. I faced it. Unlike Kaio, I was not let go for being small. Today the game has much more contact and physical strength, but with technical quality Kaio César overcomes that."

Kaio must wait a few days to return after a right hamstring injury suffered in his second outing last Thursday. Élton played for Corinthians between 2004 and 2007, making 36 appearances with two goals and five assists, before joining FCSB, formerly Steaua Bucaresti, in Romania. He now plays for Zumbi, in Alagoas.
