Emerson Royal reveals he received offer to leave Flamengo | OneFootball

Emerson Royal has revealed he received an offer to leave Flamengo at the start of 2026, but he chose to remain at the club.

"I had an offer, even before coming to Flamengo, an offer from abroad. I spoke with the people around me and I did not want to leave now. I have more to give Flamengo, I have to prove it to myself," he said, speaking to GE.

"I always say I do not have to prove anything to anyone outside. When you set that expectation it is very difficult because it splits opinions. So I said I have to prove it to myself, I have to show my football 100% here and then we will see."

After Wesley left, Flamengo moved for the right-back, agreeing a deal and paying nine million euros to Milan.

Head coach Filipe Luís also has Guillermo Varela at right-back, although the Uruguayan missed the last match with an ankle issue. Youth defender Daniel Sales has been included in recent senior squads.

With Emerson Royal available, Flamengo face Botafogo on Sunday 15 February at 17:30 Brasília time at Estádio Nilton Santos in the Carioca quarter-finals.
